1. Scope of This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the General Journal application and explains how information is handled when you use the application.
General Journal is designed for personal journaling and note taking. The application does not require you to create an account, register an email address, or provide personal information in order to use its core functionality.
2. Account & Access
General Journal does not require an online account or user registration to use the application.
- No username or password is required.
- No email registration is required.
- No online profile is required.
- No subscription is required for the basic application.
- The application can be used without creating an account.
Because there is no required online account, the application does not need to associate your journal entries with an online user identity.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Journal Entries
The General Journal application allows you to create journal entries, notes, thoughts, and other content that you choose to enter into the application.
This content is stored locally on your device for use by the application. It is not required to be transmitted to our servers.
3.2 Personal Information
General Journal does not require the collection of personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, home address, or account credentials to provide its core functionality.
3.3 Technical Information
The application is designed to operate without requiring personal information to be submitted to the developer. Information stored locally by the application remains on the device unless you choose to remove, export, or otherwise share it.
| Information | Collected Online? | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Journal Entries | No | Stored locally for use within the application |
| Name / Email | No | No account is required |
| Password | No | No online authentication is required |
| Location | No | Not required for the application's core functionality |
| Journal Data on Server | No | Journal content is designed to remain on the device |
4. How We Use Information
Because General Journal does not require an online account or server-based journal database, we do not need to collect your journal content for the application's core functionality.
Information entered into the application is used primarily to provide the functionality requested by you, such as creating, viewing, editing, and deleting journal entries.
- Creating journal entries.
- Displaying saved journal entries.
- Editing existing entries.
- Deleting entries when requested by you.
- Maintaining application data locally on your device.
We do not sell your journal entries or use your private journal content as a product.
5. Local Storage & Cache
General Journal uses local device storage and/or local cache mechanisms to save information required for the application to function.
Your journal entries are intended to remain on the device where they were created. The application does not require a cloud account or remote database to store your journal entries.
What This Means
- Your journal data is stored locally on your device.
- Your journal data is not automatically uploaded to our servers.
- We do not have normal access to your locally stored journal entries.
- No online account is required to access your local journal.
- Deleting application data may delete locally stored journal entries.
- Uninstalling the application may remove its locally stored data depending on your device and operating system.
You are responsible for maintaining any backup of your journal entries if the application or device provides an export or backup function. If locally stored data is deleted, damaged, or lost, it may not be recoverable because the application does not maintain a required server-side copy.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
Journal data is retained locally on your device for as long as it remains stored by the application.
You can delete journal entries using the application's available deletion functionality.
You may also remove locally stored application data through your device's operating-system settings. Removing application data or uninstalling the application may permanently delete journal entries stored on the device.
Since journal entries are not required to be stored on our servers, there is generally no server-side journal database that needs to be requested for deletion.
8. Security
General Journal is designed around local storage so that journal content does not need to be transmitted over the internet for normal journaling functionality.
The security of locally stored information also depends on the security of your device. We recommend using the security features provided by your device, such as a screen lock, PIN, password, biometric authentication, and operating-system security updates.
No method of storing information on an electronic device can guarantee absolute security. You should take reasonable steps to protect access to your device.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Because General Journal is designed not to collect or maintain your journal entries on our servers, you retain control over the locally stored content within the application.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights concerning personal information that may be processed by the developer, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information about processing.
For locally stored journal content, deletion can generally be performed directly within the application or through your device's application-data settings.
10. Children's Privacy
General Journal is a general-purpose journaling application. The application does not require users to create an online account or submit personal information to use its core journaling functionality.
We do not knowingly require children to provide personal information in order to use the application's core features.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the General Journal application, its functionality, applicable law, or privacy practices.
When changes are made, the updated version will be published with a revised "Last Updated" date.
